The recent discourse on international cooperation in education places an increasing emphasis on outcomes. International cooperation itself has pursued its effectiveness and used evolving aid modalities. The biggest challenge now is how to ensure that effective educational cooperation more directly contributes to improved learning and learning outcomes. Meanwhile, the international education community is currently discussing a new global framework for the post 2015 education development that builds on the achievements made under the Education for All and the Dakar Framework for Action. In both areas, much stronger involvement of academia is expected, presenting important opportunities for enhanced contribution by the universities.
