Although potential yield of crops in developing countries is high, actual yields are low and unstable, and there is a need to reduce the yield gap. To achieve this, it is necessary to accurately assess crop growth and yield in the field and develop countermeasure technologies. However, the evaluation of crop productivity in the field is extremely difficult due to the large spatial variation. In this seminar, I will introduce examples of the development of growth evaluation technology using visible cameras, and discuss issues for the dissemination of this technology in developing countries.
